Danna M. DeBlasio
Danna M. DeBlasio has nearly two decades of experience as a government relations professional. She has successfully navigated clients through complex legislative issues, secured tens of millions of dollars for not-for-profit clients through expense and capital funding, negotiated multi-agency approvals and created procurement and pilot program opportunities for clients in various sectors.
Danna has spearheaded statewide efforts positively affecting thousands of minority-owned small businesses. She successfully pushed back against bad policy limiting WIC participants’ access to affordable baby formula and advocated for policies to crack down on rampant retail theft at the State level, among just some of her legislative victories. At the City level, she was instrumental in getting the outdoor dining bill passed, codifying what became a lifeline for the restaurant and bar industry and what is now a major benefit to communities across the city. She was able to move a controversial bill dealing with deregulation of itemized pricing, saving supermarkets and bodegas, collectively, millions of dollars in fines. Danna also shepherded through a package of bills offering more curb access and overnight parking for the trucking industry, making deliveries work better for communities.
Representing not-for-profit organizations and helping underserved communities is a core value and part of Danna’s identity. Danna is proud to have secured millions in critical funding for legal service providers for the Right to Counsel in housing court, delivered critical funding for the Alternatives to Incarceration and Reentry Coalition to provide programming targeted at formerly-incarcerated individuals and secured monumental funding for the City Council’s City’s First Readers program to expand programming of early childhood literacy education. Recently, Danna was instrumental in helping a not-for-profit youth services provider on the brink of collapse, renegotiate a lease with the City, buying time and allowing them to find other opportunities to continue their work in the East Harlem community.
Through her relationships built over the years, Danna has created partnerships that transcend typical lobbying, including a public-private partnership with car-share and NYCHA, partnering with a local Council Member to save a beloved supermarket in the community of crown heights and standing up a program between private entities during the pandemic to make food more accessible to the most vulnerable.
Danna is responsible for overseeing firm operations. This involves managing the day-to-day and leveraging internal resources and expertise to deliver the best possible results for clients, while prioritizing communications to keep CMW clients informed.
Prior to joining CMW, Danna worked for a prominent New York government relations firm, most recently running its New York City office. From 2011 to 2012, She spent a year in Panama overseeing client relations and special projects. While in Panama City, she played a vital role in coordinating ground logistics for Sports Illustrated as well as the ABC television series, “The Bachelor.”
